QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS will release their new album, "The Cosmos Rocks", in Europe on September 15 and the U.S./Canada on October 14 via EMI. A single, "C-lebrity", will precede the album on September 8.

"C-lebrity" was written and produced by Brian May, Paul Rodgers and Roger Taylor.

Many of QUEEN's best-known songs have been written in humor, and "C-lebrity" follows in this pattern; it is a comment on the celebrity-driven times in which we live where the myriad of reality-based TV shows are producing a generation of C-lebrities

The track received its first airing as an exclusive on TV's "Al Murray's Happy Hour", since when, according to Brian May, "we went back in and roughed up the studio version a bit. I think it gives a fair idea of the kind of energy on the album."

Commented drummer Roger Taylor: "'C-lebrity' is really a comment on the current concept of fame — success and all that goes with it. Getting your face on TV is enough — talent doesn't really enter into the equation. 'Celebrity' is an overused and devalued word today."

Vocalist Paul Rodgers added: "I see the song as Roger's take on the increasing emphasis on fame for its own sake. It's quite ironic that Andy Warhol's statement that everyone will have fifteen minutes of fame is becoming something of a reality, although it may be down to fifteen seconds in today's world of instant communication."

"The Cosmos Rocks" album, produced and performed by Brian May, Paul Rodgers and Roger Taylor, and written by QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS, featuring 13-all new songs, is out to coincide with the mid-September start of the European tour. It marks the first QUEEN album of new material since 1995.

Et à part ça, personne pour donner un avis sur ses albums avec Free ou Bad Company ? Un p'tit topo ? Histoire de savoir de qui on cause.

Bon rapidement parce que j'ai l'impression que tu nous prend pour des cons je n'ai rien du tout contre Paul Rodgers, je le repete pour la 15eme fois, mais pas sous le nom de Queen, dans ce cadre la, et ce sujet parle de ça je crois, il est mauvais de chez mauvais, je me suis torturé a l'écouter sur youtube, si t'a envie de causer de Free ou de Bad Company, t'a qu'a faire un sujet si tu l'aime tant que ça

Je n'ai écouté qu'un Bad Co (Holy water, aucun souvenir), le The Firm (bof) et trois titres de Free.
Je me vois pas faire un topo.
Tiens ça fait des groupes à rajouter dans la liste des trucs "pas écoutés". J'y avais pas pensé à ceux là.

Le peu que j'ai écouté de Free (dont le I'm A Mover repris par Maiden) m'a bien plu, c'est assez pépère, bluesy et Paul Rodgers a vraiment une voix sublime, plus bluesy, qui influencera plus tard David Coverdale.

Sinon noise, j'ai bien capté que Rodgers n'est pas à la hauteur sur les classiques de Queen (j'ai pas dit le contraire). Mais le faire passer pour un nain en "oubliant" le reste de sa carrière, (c'est l'impression générale qui se dégage de la part des fans de Queen), c'est injuste non ?
Ce serait comme qualifier David Coverdale de clône de Robert Plant, en ayant seulement écouté Still Of The Night et Coverdale/Page.

Oui c'est clairement injuste je suis d'accord, mais on ne l'a pas forcé à mettre son nom sur ce projet à côté de celui de Queen que je sache. Si ces mecs avaient eu les couilles de créer un autre groupe avec un autre nom, j'aurais dis banco, là ils s'exposent à ce genre de critiques mais bon business is business

Coverdale n'a pas encore fait de disque sous le nom de Led Zeppelin + David Coverdale et heureusement ma foi

A l'origine, May-Taylor-Rodgers devait être le nom du projet, ça leur aurait épargné ce genre de critiques mais là, ils n'auraient pas rempli Bercy.
Bon perso, c'est sous ce nom là que je vois ce groupe (et non en pensant à Queen) donc ça me dérange pas plus que ça... tout comme certains trouvent le Thin Lizzy actuel excellent, si si...

Holy Water ce n'est même pas avec Rodgers. Au début des années 80 et le succès, y a eu les tensions habituelles et il s'est barré. Les mecs (c'est-à-dire Mick Ralphs le gratteux et Simon Kirke à la batterie) sont revenus dans la seconde moitié de la décénie avec Brian Howe au chant et avec aux manettes Terry Thomas (Tesla, Foreigner, Giant...). Là c'est devenu moins bluesy et plus hard FM.

Il y a des trucs sympas mais ça vaut pas la période Rodgers pour laquelle je recommande les premiers notamment Bad Company (premier album), une vraie petite bombe. Petit exemple avec I Can't Get Enough.

Je la connais depuis longtemps celle là, mais je savais pas que c'était de Bad Company.

Sinon, le premier Free "Fire and Water", vaut plus qu'un détour. C'est un album majeur du rock du début des 70's. "All Right Now" est un sacré tube et le reste respire le très bon rock teinté de blues. On n'est pas très loin de Led Zep par moments, en moins brûlant bien sûr.

Bon ben la collaboration entre Rodgers, May et Taylor est finie :

Apart from a brief set of summer dates with BAD COMPANY, Paul Rodgers says that he plans on spending the rest of 2009 at home relaxing and working on solo material. "Frankly, I have a fantastic happy home (laughs) and I overlook the lake," he tells The Pulse of Radio. "And I actually want to spend some more time creating the music. Y'know, one of my dreams was always to have a piano — a room with a piano overlooking the ocean or a lake. Well, I have that and I'd like to spend some time on it if I may, please. So that's what I plan to do this year."

Rodgers recently announced that he has parted ways with Brian May and Roger Taylor of QUEEN, ending their five-year association. Rumors began spreading when after last year's European dates behind their first studio album together, "The Cosmos Rocks", the band failed to announce any North American dates. Rodgers told Billboard, "At this point we're gonna sit back from this. My arrangement with (May and Taylor) was similar to my arrangement with Jimmy Page in THE FIRM in that it was never meant to be a permanent arrangement."

Rodgers, who'll be reuniting with BAD COMPANY this summer for a string of dates, added that he was ultimately proud of his association with QUEEN, saying, "I think we made a huge success of it, actually. We did two world tours and a couple of live recordings, and . . . made a studio album which was pretty historical for (them) because they hadn't really gone in the studio with anybody and recorded something like that for a very long time. So it was quite an achievement, I think."

He went on to say, "There were some fantastic emails we received that almost had me in tears . . . There were a lot of younger people who had given up the idea they'd ever see anything like QUEEN live again, and there it was, full-on. When Brian first called up and said, 'Do you fancy a couple dates, just for fun, in Europe, I said 'great' — and it turned into so much more than that."
