L'autre album, The beginners guide to throwing shapes, est plus intéressant.

"MAGENTA: Magenta's new album Home is imminent. The band just released the following press release - hot off the press!
F2 Music is delighted to announce details of the much anticipated third studio album by Magenta. Home will be officially released on 1st June, and copies will be available at the album launch concert at the Herringthorpe Leisure Centre, Rotherham on 13 May 2006. Also, all pre-orders for the CD placed at www.progrock.co.uk will be supplied as soon as the stock is available.

The album is a concept piece and tells the story of a woman who emigrates from Liverpool in the early 1970’s to "find herself" in the USA. The CD is 68 minutes long and includes contributions from a variety of guests including Magenta regular Martin Shellard on guitar and Troy Donockley (Iona, Mostly Autumn) on Uilleann Pipes and whistles. Once again, the album has been written and produced by Rob Reed, with lyrics by Steve Reed. Musically, ‘Home’ represents a further development for the band, combining the Magenta sound established on Revolutions, Seven and the two singles Broken and I’m Alive, with one or two surprises! The album also marks Christina’s finest vocal performance with the band to date.

Home will be released in two separate versions. The first will be a single CD edition, with slipcase, and a 16-page booklet. The CD is available for pre-order NOW and costs £10 (including postage to anywhere in the world) from www.progrock.co.uk and the full track listing is shown below:

1. This Life
2. Hurt
3. Moving On
4. My Home Town (Far Away)
5. Brave New Land
6. The Journey
7. Towers of Hope
8. Demons
9. Morning Sunlight
10. Joe
11. The Dream
12. The Visionary
13. Journey’s End
14. The Traveller’s Lament
15. Home

The second version will be a special limited 2 CD slipcase edition. This is a double CD release that includes the Home CD, plus a second CD entitled The New York Suite containing over 40 minutes of music. Complete with an 8 page booklet, this second CD features a further 5 tracks which examine the experiences of the main character of Home during her stay in Manhattan. This two CD special edition is available for pre-order NOW for £15 from www.progrock.co.uk, and will be available for a limited period only. The ‘New York Suite’ CD will be released in its own right later in the year. The track listing is:

1. Arrival
2. Home From Home
3. White Lies
4. Truth
5. This Life (Reprise)

You can hear sound clips from both CD’s on the Magenta web site at, including TWO complete tracks, The Visionary from Home and White Lies from New York Suite. By visiting www.progrock.co.uk you can also hear a third full track from Home very soon!

More information has been revealed about keyboardist Derek Sherinian's (DREAM THEATER, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN) upcoming fifth solo album, "Blood of the Snake", which will be released by InsideOut Music in Europe on July 27, in North America on August 1 and via Marquee/Avalon in Japan on August 23.

Sherinian was blessed to gain two top-notch guest musicians for the CD: Billy Idol and GUNS N' ROSES icon Slash. Sherinian already supported Idol on his previous tour and recorded MUNGO JERRY's classic song "In the Summertime", featuring guest appearances by both Idol and Slash. "That was my favorite song when I was three," Sherinian admits. "Billy sang this song when we were rehearsing in the studio and we immediately started jamming to it. All of a sudden we thought that this could be a good cover song. To me, Slash was simply perfect for it." Other tracks on this album were sung by Zakk Wylde, with additional guest appearances by Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci (DREAM THEATER), Simon Phillips (TOTO), Tony Franklin (THE FIRM, BLUE MURDER) and Brian Tichy (BILLY IDOL, OZZY OSBOURNE).

Hum... Puis In The Summertime en cover j'ose même pas imaginer...

Another... :

"AXAMENTA: Sven from the Belgian Band Axamenta has informed us that their new album will be released at the end of May. They recorded the album last year at Jacon Hansen & Studio Fredman. On one song, Daniel Gildenlöw has written and performed all the vocals! According to Sven, this is quite a unique event, since their music is more into the heavier area (think Soilwork, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, PoS, ...) and says that Daniel has REALLY put A LOT of work into this. He's even done some things he hasn't done on any PoS album before ;-)) They have uploaded a sample of the song, together with a few others on their website. The link to the MP3 area is: Here and a directly link to Daniel's song is here."

Hum...

Vu !

"BLACKFIELD: New music from the forthcoming second Blackfield album is available and can be found at the Blackfield MySpace page. A full song Once and an album preview are both available to download and share."

"XION: The recording, mixing and mastering for the second Ixion album is done.
The album entitled Talisman has become an epic concept album about a mysterious talisman which we follow throughout the ages. The music on Talisman is a strong mixture of neo-progressive and symphonic rock and could be described as a rock opera. Many of the musicians who participated on the debut album CryoGenesis were present this time. Including some new faces, among them Michael Hos, singer of Ulysses.
Jankees Braam, the man behind the Ixion project releases the album independent and expects the CD to be available somewhere mid June."

Sur le site habituel... :

"VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR: The UK Van der Graaf Generator website reports that contrary to Peter Hammill's comments that it was unlikely that VDGG would get back together after the 2004 reunion, it is reported that the band will be getting back together in July of this year with the aim of live dates and recording. There will be a live CD and also possibly live DVD - also mentioned on Peter's website. For further information please visit the above website."

"A.C.T.: The band will launch their new album Silence in their home town of Malmo, Sweden on July 12th with a special release party and show before moving onto the following confirmed dates:

We can bring to you a selection of samples from Silence that we hope you will enjoy. The album will be released on 21st June 2006.
"

"ROCKET SCIENTISTS: More news from the Erik Norland website about his Rocket Scientists project:
Acclaimed American progressive rock legends Rocket Scientists have returned to the studio after an 8 year hiatus and are proud to announce the forthcoming release of their new epic double album, "Revolution Road". Combining Rocket Scientists' extraordinary blend of melodic and memorable songwriting with adventurous instrumental fireworks, "Revolution Road" takes the band to new heights of artistic achievement. Founding members Mark McCrite (guitar, vocals), Erik Norlander (keyboards) and Don Schiff (NS/Stick) started writing and demoing songs for the album in 2002 and even played some California concert dates. But following the loss of their drummer, Shaun Guerin, the project was put on hold. The three musicians continued to collaborate on other projects including Lana Lane's "Winter Sessions" and "Lady Macbeth" CDs and Norlander's "Music Machine" concept album. Norlander also produced Don Schiff's remarkable 2005 solo album, "Peering Over Clouds". But following the Lana Lane 10th Anniversary Tour in 2005, McCrite, Norlander and Schiff officially reunited again as Rocket Scientists and began to record this new studio opus.

"Revolution Road" brings two new musicians to the Rocket Scientists universe. Drummer Gregg Bissonette, who previously played on Norlander's "Music Machine" and Lana Lane's "Covers Collection" and "Winter Sessions" CDs, brings his dynamic versatility and technical excellence to the band. South Carolina's David McBee has also been brought in as the second lead vocalist. McBee's powerful hard rock vocal ethic is the perfect contrast to McCrite's smooth and warm vocal stylings. Together, the two vocalists are a formidable pair that take Rocket Scientists to new uncharted worlds. "Revolution Road" is produced by Erik Norlander, and it contains stunning artwork from Polish surrealist Jacek Yerka who painted the cover to the band's last album, "Oblivion Days", Schiff's solo album, "Peering Over Clouds", as well the unforgettable covers that appear on the many famous Lana Lane albums. "Revolution Road" is a new milestone for Rocket Scientists, and it is one that will surely send the band to new altitudes. The album will be released worldwide on September 23, 2006. The countdown begins!
