"Echolyn new album

Posted on Tuesday, 15th May 2012 by Léon

Five years in the making, echolyn

is finally set to release their eighth, and greatest, studio recording!
The self-titled new album, “echolyn”, is the culmination of 20 years
of highly original musical arrangements, combined with the heartfelt
lyricism and vocal adventure echolyn fans have come to love.

[i]Image
The feel of this double-album evokes yet another new, and truly
progressive, listening experience and interpretation. A sense of beauty
and great openness pervades both the production and songwriting. Each
piece of music stands on its own and yet, at the same time, cohesively
fits with all of the other songs. Neither tedious nor overbearing, this
album will make you want to start-it-over-again each time it ends, as
you are enveloped by the music.

One of the items on the band’s “bucket list” has been to release
their music on vinyl. echolyn is happy to finally check this item off
that list with the help of the UK Label, Plane Groovy. echolyn will be
releasing the new album on double vinyl in a classic gatefold package
complete with lyrics, song credits and beautiful artwork. These records
will be individually numbered with a limited run of 500 copies on high
quality 180g-heavyweight vinyl. To enhance the vinyl experience, the
music has been mastered at a sample rate of 88.2kHz and EQ’d
specifically for these 500 copies.

Citation:
Steven Wilson - Get All You Deserve (Blu-ray, DVD & 2CD set)

Image

Get All You Deserve, is a new high definition audio-visual set from Steven Wilson. Directed by long-time visual collaborator Lasse Hoile, Get All You Deserve was filmed in Mexico City during the recent Grace For Drowning Tour. The set captures the spectacular live experience that Wilson and Hoile created for the tour on Blu-ray, DVD and 2CD.

Steven Wilson is a twice Grammy-nominated producer, writer and performer, best known as founder and front man of British rock band Porcupine Tree. He has also produced and /or mixed albums for artists as diverse as Swedish metal band Opeth, Norwegian chanteuse Anja Garbarek, and progressive rock institutions King Crimson and Jethro Tull. He also co-wrote and sang a track from Pendulum's number one album Immersion. Porcupine Tree’s last album was a top 30 album in both the UK and USA, and the tour climaxed with sold out shows at Royal Albert Hall in London and Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Grace For Drowning was the second album released under Wilson’s own name, following 2009’s exceptionally well-received Insurgentes. The album, released in September 2011, entered the UK top 40 album chart at #34, both the Dutch and German national charts at #22, the US Billboard Rock album chart at #19 (#13 in independent chart) and debuted at #7 in the Polish national charts.

Following the release of Grace For Drowning, Steven embarked on his first ever solo tour, assembling a virtuoso band, featuring Marco Minnemann (drums), Nick Beggs (bass), Theo Travis (flute and sax), Adam Holzman (keys) and Niko Tsonev (guitars), to accompany him. For the shows he worked extensively with Lasse to create a show unlike nothing else that he had ever done with his other bands, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, No-Man or Bass Communion.

The shows submerged fans in a rich sensory experience: rear speakers provide surround-sound effects, giant screens show off Lasse’s films made specifically to accompany these songs, and cutting-edge lighting designs giving texture to each song.

Get All You Deserve captures one of the highlight shows from the tour. Recorded at a sold-out Teatro Metropólitan in Mexico City, the gig features tracks from both Wilson's solo albums along with the new, as yet unreleased, track Luminol.

Image

Citation:
01. Momentum (6:25)
02. Thoughts Part 5 (7:51)
03. Smoke and Mirrors (4:38)
04. Weathering Sky (4:15)
05. Freak (4:29)
06. World Without End (33:39)
i) Introduction
ii) Never Pass Away
iii) Losing Your Soul
iv) The Mystery
v) Some Kind of Yesterday
vi) World Without End

Total Length: 61:17

Featured musicians:

* Neal Morse - Keyboards, Guitars, Vocals
* Mike Portnoy - Drums
* Randy George - Bass

Additional musicians:

* Paul Gilbert - Guitar solo on "Momentum"
* Adson Sodré - Guitar Solos on "World Without End"
* Bill Hubauer - Clarinet, flute, guitar and additional keys on "The Mystery"
* Eric Gillette - Additional vocals on "Thoughts Part 5"
* Wil Morse - Additional vocals on "Thoughts Part 5"
* Chris Carmichael - Strings
* Rick Altizer - Additional vocals on "Weathering Sky" and "Smoke and Mirrors"

"Momentum" features five exceptional stand alone songs and one longer conceptual piece. In addition to the accessible title track, there's the quirkily clever, GENTLE GIANT-inspired "Thoughts Part 5", which follows in the footsteps of the previous "Thoughts" tracks penned by Morse with SPOCK'S BEARD. "Smoke and Mirrors" trods an introspective, acoustic path, while "Weathering Sky" offers a raucous cry for deliverance and renewal from a searching soul. Rounding out the shorter tracks is "Freak", an upbeat, strings-charged song unlike anything Neal has recorded to date. Last comes "World Without End", a near-34-minute, six-part epic that contains everything that defines Morse as a master of the genre."

Pfff...

: Performed by John Wetton, Tony Levin, Rick Wakeman, Robby Krieger, Colin Moulding, Steve Morse, Chris Squire, Steve Porcaro, Roye Albrighton, Annie Haslam, Richard Page, Peter Banks, David Sancious, Gary Green, John Wesley, Geoff Downes, Joe Lynn Turner, Jordan Rudess, Rod Argent, Tony Kaye, Mickey Thomas and more !

Image

A suivre !
