Danish power metallers MANTICORA have finalized the track listing for their new album, "The Black Circus Part 1 - Letters", due in Europe on August 25 via Massacre Records (August 29 in the U.S. through Locomotive Music).

"The Black Circus Part 1 - Letters" was recorded at the Jailhouse studios in Horsens, Denmark with producer Tommy Hansen (HELLOWEEN, TNT, PRETTY MAIDS, FATE). Check out audio samples at Manticora.dk. The "Part 2" companion CD was also scheduled to be recorded during the same session, although details on that release are currently unavailable.

MANTICORA Begins Recording New Album - Oct. 3, 2006

Danish power metallers MANTICORA have entered the studio to begin recording the guitars for their upcoming sixth full-length album, "The Black Circus, Part 2". The companion CD to the recently released "The Black Circus, Part 1 – Letters" is tentatively due in 2007.

The two-album "The Black Circus" concept project tells the story of the horrific perils of a traveling circus in the 19th century.

"The Black Circus, Part 1 – Letters" sold less than 50 copies in the United States in its first week of release last month, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD was recorded at the Jailhouse studios in Horsens, Denmark with producer Tommy Hansen (HELLOWEEN, TNT, PRETTY MAIDS, FATE).

Si le disque est aussi bien distribué là-bas qu'en France, alors ça ne m'étonne même pas.

Happy new year all you metal heads! Here is alittle update of what's gonna happen for Manticora in 2007 so far. In 3weeks from now we will enter the Jailhouse Studios to do the mixingsession of The Black Circus Part 2, togehter with Tommy Hansen. All therecordings are almost done by now. The first 3 shows for 2007 are alsoconfirmed....check the "Tour" section for further details. In othernews, we're currently recording a cover of Tankard's "Total Addiction"(a real thrash metal classic!!!) for a Tankard-tribute album to bereleased later in the year by AFM Records.

Le groupe a terminé l'enregistrement de toutes les parties de son album à venir: The Black Circus Part 2, et entre aux Jailhouse Studios avant la fin du mois pour les sessions de mixage. Ca sent la sortie pour bientôt tout ça

Il précise aussi qu'il a enregistré une reprise de Tankard: "Total Addiction", qui figurera sur le tribute album dédié à Tankard.

Plusieurs révélations :

-L'album sort le 15 Mai.
-Il s'appellera The Black Circus Part 2 - Disclosure.
-Il sera plus sombre que le premier.
-Il contiendra un morceau quasi-doom, "le plus lent de toute notre carrière", selon Lars.

En espérant que le dyptique ainsi finalisé sera définitivement convaincant.

Je ne trouve pas ça pourri et bien au contraire assez intéressant. Bien plus qu'un BLIND GUARDIAN dernier cru par exemple.

J'aime assez le style du groupe même si le dernier album est un peu plus difficile à ingurgiter, je vous l'accorde.

J'ai envie d'y croire. Si Lars dit pas de conneries et que le groupe poursuit sa petite mutation (moins de double-pédale, plus de mélodie), ça peut être bonnard.

Et pour ce qui est de retranscrire des ambiances, ils avaient assurés sur le premier. Je leur fais confiance de ce côté là.

Oui ça peut le faire je pense.

N'empêche que mon préféré reste quand même Hyperion.

C'est un des groupes qui m'a le plus marqué(puisque totallement inconu pour moi avant concert...)et quelle claque!
Sur album c'est bien mais beaucoup moins qu'en live...

Me languis ce prochain Opus.

Non, c'est pas ce que j'ai voulu dire, c'est simplement qu'on sent qu'il manque quelque chose. Il faut attendre le deuxième pour finalement juger l'ensemble, voilà tout.

* Andreas Lindahl (WUTHERING HEIGHTS, ex-PLATITUDE) doing some keyboard leads and solos

C'est dommage que je n'aime pas le groupe généralement, le sujet me semble sympa, et se prête bien à des ambiances et références musicales variées. Je vais tout de même essayer d'écouter ces deux albums.
