Together with Jørn Viggo Lofstad (Guit.) and Steinar Krokmo (Bass) from Pagans Mind, Axel Mackenrott (Keyboards) from Masterplan and belgium singer Magali Luyten , Uli wrote and recorded "The Unexpected" for AFM records to be released in may.2006.

Beautiful Sin is a melodic metal band, and features Magalis dynamical and charismatic voice.The album was recorded in 2005 in Belgium and Norway and mixed by Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse Studios in Denmark.

The Unexpected is a journey through twelve various metalsongs with a dramatic touch and two unexpected instrumentals. One of them "Brace for Impact" not only has a clear progressive arrangement combined with a strong guidemelody throughout the song, but also shows Uli`s abilities as a drummer, with his 25 years of experience, more than ever.With no doubt leadsinger from Virus 4, Magali sticks out from known female metalsingers nowadays and leaves most of them fare behind. Rhythm and vocals are linked by an outstanding performance of Jørn Viggo and Steinar, both known before from the norwegian progressive metal band Pagans Mind.
A remake of "The departed, sun is going down" from Helloween`s "The dark ride" album in its originally written version and a coverversion of the song "Die Diktatur der Angepassten" from the german band "Blumfeld" are giving the album a special touch rounded with atmospheric sounds made by Axel. The energetic bonustrack "Le reve originel" which is an alternative french version of "This is not the original dream" and all other aspects make The Unexpected unique and more than just another melodic metalalbum. There is yet a lot to discover...do it yourself!!!
