Ca avance vite...
DREAM THEATER's very last show of the band's 20th Anniversary Tour 2005/2006 on April 1, 2006 at the Radio City Music Hall was recorded and filmed for an upcoming 20th anniversary DVD and CD release. The band's drummer, Mike Portnoy, has issued the following update regarding the upcoming set:
"I've been in the studio last week and this week with Michael Brauer doing the audio mixes of the [Radio City Music Hall] show and it sounds AMAZING!!!! The mixes are in the can (both stereo and 5.1) and are ready for mastering! Simultaneously, I've been hard at work on the DVD. The footage shot is absolutely BEAUTIFUL (11 Hi-Def cameras!) and I also have plans for some great bonus material as well which is in the works.
"I will be flying to L.A. in a few weeks to put the finishing touches on the video editing and wrapping the whole project by the first or second week of May.
"We are tentatively looking at an end of summer release (August/September) for the 2-DVD/3-CD sets... And yes... I have a name for it...but I have to leave some things unmentioned for now!"

Portnoy has previously stated about the Radio City Music Hall show, "Without going into too much detail, I have to THANK all of you in attendance at Radio City Music Hall for helping to make [the April 1] show one of the most incredible evenings of my life.
"Of the hundreds of shows (maybe thousands at this point?) that we've done through the years, never before have I been moved on stage as much as I was [that] night. There were several points in the night where I was literally brought to tears by the power and emotion in the air.
"I just wanted to thank our AMAZING fans from all over the world that helped make [the show] so electric and magical from start to finish....you guys were the ULTIMATE audience [that] night!
"We always dreamed of playing with an orchestra one day and [that] night's performance surpassed my wildest expectations. Jamshied Sharifi (our beloved arranger & conductor) and the incredible musicians behind us rose to the occasion and lifted our music to a whole new orgasmic level.
"I cannot wait to share this evening with all of you that weren't able to attend via the upcoming DVD and CD sets. . . I truly believe last night was the PINNACLE of our 20-year career thus far and an incredible ending to the latest chapter in DREAM THEATER history.
"How the hell will we top it???????????
"Give me some time, and I'll think of something!"

DREAM THEATER frontman James LaBrie has offered more information about his recent recording sessions in Russia for an opera-oriented project called TRUE SYMPHONIC ROCKESTRA.
Commented LaBrie: Dirk Ulrich (mastermind and producer) and I spoke almost six years ago about the possibility of doing such a project and at the time it was supposed to be three rock tenors. By the way the acronym TSR is: TRUE SYMPHONIC ROCKESTRA.
"Anyway, to really see this thing through meant first and foremost finding and deciding on the singers and three that would blend well. Secondly, a label that shared our vision and enthusiasm. The financial backing pre- and post-production would not be small change.
"Well, both obstacles continued to present one another as almost insurmountable.
"It wasn't until maybe five months ago when Dirk started to produce and record a Russian band by the name of ASPECT that he came in contact with Igor Marin — a highly respected businessman. Actually a professor of biochemistry. He created a hybrid sunflower seed that in turn produces some of the purest and richest sunflower oil in the world.
"Needless to say, he became wealthy and financially independent.
"Igor was executive producer, backing and helping to develop ASPECT.
"They — ASPECT — were with Dirk recording at MarinSound Studios. This was a band Igor believed in and was willing to back them in every way necessary.
"Igor Marin believed it was well overdue and necessary to have a state of art studio built, hence MarinSound Studios — world-class in every sense of the word.
"The studio was built in Krasnodar, Russia and is where TSR recorded. I will attest this is easily one of the finest studios I have every recorded in... absolutely incredible.
"Let's back up a bit. Upon meeting Igor Marin I realized that while being a world-renowned biochemist professor, his heart and soul was all about music. He is as big a fan of DREAM THEATER as is any other die-hard. His influences and favourite artists are very similar to mine with a few exceptions, of course.
"I know there is no chronological order here, so just bear with me.
"While Dirk was working with Igor and some of his associates, he mentioned some of his other musical interests as well as this pet project he was faithfully and patiently waiting to do once artists' and finances were confirmed.
"Once Dirk explained the concept, they asked to hear the music. Upon hearing the music, Igor was convinced and immediately said he would back it and do whatever it takes to make it a reality. One thing was for sure, he had the studio and it was are when ready.
"Right around this same time Dirk had been entertaining the possibility of the three tenors being not rock tenors but only one rock tenor with two classical tenors. Dirk knew of one classical tenor for sure who was right, Thomas Dewald. Thomas has a phenomenal voice. The other classical tenor was suggested by Igor Marin, this was Vladimir Grishko. He had sung all over the world and was presented with the accolade opera tenor of the world for 2005 by Luciano Pavarotti.
"Once again, I must state Vladimir is a vocalist with phenomenal talent.
"Vladimir contacted Luciano and Madame Caballe and asked their opinion. They both said this is an unique opportunity to unite rock and classical both musically and vocally. The line-up was complete as well as executive support. Everyone was buzzing and itching to get started. June 6th we began recording at MarinSound Studios and by June 12th we were all flying home.
"I am extremely stoked about this recording and cannot wait for everyone to finally hear it. Dirk will begin the mix at MarinSound Studios in Krasnodar, Russia June 24th. We will keep you posted and let you know when the official TSR site is up."

DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy has issued the following update via his official web site:
"Yes, indeed, I have been able to take some time off (DREAM THEATER's first summer off in 10 years...wow!) to squeeze in some much-needed rest and relaxation time with my wonderful wife and children...but as you all know, 'all rest and no work makes Mike a bored boy' (or something like that...), so here's some of the activities filling up any of my time away from the pool:
* After the DREAM THEATER tour ended, I spent the first few months of my 'vacation' working on the 'Score' CD and DVD (which I directed)... As I'm sure you all now know, they will be released on August 29th (date varies in different countries). As I've already stated, the show at Radio City Music Hall was a career highlight for me and this DVD totally does that incredible evening complete justice, capturing all of the energy and magic in the air. Also, the 20-year retrospective documentary on the second disc is well worth the price of admission alone as it covers every step of our career through interviews and rare archival footage and serves as the ultimate DREAM THEATER historical piece.
* Then I did my WHO tribute shows, which surely lived up to the band's name, as it was truly an 'amazing journey!' Working with Paul [Gilbert], Billy [Sheehan] and Gary [Cherone] was totally awe inspiring and those gigs were some of the most fun I've had in my life.... At some point in the future, I will get to work on sorting through the tapes for a DVD/CD release to share this magical musical experience with the rest of the world... In the meantime, there are limited quantities of AMAZING JOURNEY shirts available in the online store as a souvenir from these special shows.
* I am just wrapping up work on the DVD of my RUSH tribute show from last year... so in the coming weeks 'Cygnus & The Sea Monsters - One Night In Chicago' will be available on CD and DVD exclusively from the online store here at MikePortnoy.com.
* In a few weeks, I will be heading up to Allaire Studios in upstate New York to begin work with Rob Wallis and Paul Seigel on my new drum instructional DVD. The 2-DVD set is going to be packed with footage, information and playing covering everything I have done (in DREAM THEATER and outside of DREAM THEATER) in the seven years since my last instructional video. The DVD (which will be entitled 'In Constant Motion') will hopefully be ready for a late 2006/early 2007 release through Hudson Music.
* Next month, I will be heading over to Nashville to record Neal Morse's latest progressive masterpiece...
* The 'Gigantour' DVD and CD will be out at the end of August/beginning of September which contains DREAM THEATER performing 'The Glass Prison' and 'Panic Attack' filmed in Montreal last year. The bonus footage on the DVD also contains great backstage stuff and should also have our version of 'Cemetery Gates' [PANTERA cover done as a tribute to 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott] with the special guests (unless Dave [Mustaine] changed something from the final version I approved...)
"A few DREAM THEATER-related projects being done by outside parties that I've been keeping a 'watchful eye' over as a consultant are:
* 'The String Quartet Tribute to Dream Theater' which should be coming out in the fall 2006
* Rich Wilson's incredibly thorough authorized DREAM THEATER biography which should be ready for a release in early 2007
* Finally, DREAM THEATER will reconvene in September to begin work on our next studio album which we can hopefully have ready for a spring/summer 2007 release...."

J'en suis à Innocence Faded et ça le fait bien. Le son m'a l'air très bon. Tout le monde est bien place (pas une seule couille de LaBrie pour l'instant ) et il m'a même semblé entendre la basse .
Ca sent l'achat encore.
