MTM Music has announced the signing of WARRANT, one of the most popular and successful rock bands of the late '80s and early '90s.

The band was formed in the mid-'80s and its first official lineup featured vocalist Jani Lane, guitarist Erik Turner, guitarist Joey Allen, bass player Jerry Dixon and drummer Steven Sweet.

In 1989, the band released their classic debut "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich", which immediately entered the charts and launched the hit singles "Down Boys" and the power ballads "Sometimes She Cries" and "Heaven", which climbed up to No. 2 in the U.S. charts. The band then started touring with other artists and bands such as PAUL STANLEY (KISS), CINDERELLA, POISON, QUEENSRŸCHE and MÖTLEY CRÜE.

In the summer of 1990, their second album "Cherry Pie", produced by legendary Beau Hill, was released and featured popular guests such as members of POISON, DANGER DANGER and FIONA. The album turned out to be an even bigger success, featuring the Top Ten hits "I Saw Red" and the rock anthem "Cherry Pie", which was receiving massive airplay on MTV.

With the arrival of grunge in the early '90s, WARRANT turned to a harder-edged sound and released their third album, "Dog Eat Dog", in 1992. Although the album also went gold, the fans were confused about the new musical style.

Now, after some changes within the band's lineup and three more albums, WARRANT is back to rock you again featuring all the original members from the first two platinum-selling albums except original singer Jani Lane, who is currently pursuing his solo career.

The album’s title, "Born Again", is perfectly describing the band's current
state: With their new singer, Jaime St. James, who is famous for being the vocalist of BLACK 'N BLUE, and internationally acclaimed producer and engineer Pat Regan (KISS, DEEP PURPLE, MR. BIG, L.A. GUNS) at the mixing desk, WARRANT have recorded an album that will surprise their old fans and definitely attract some new ones.

"Born Again" delivers classic '80s hard rock with the band's trademark touch of poser and sleaze metal or as the band itself puts it: "It's the classic hard rockin' 'Born Again' sound that we all want to hear. 'Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich' and 'Cherry Pie' with a new twist!"

MTM Music managing director Mario Lehmann had the following to say about the new high-priority signing: "It was a German journalist who told me WARRANT had been working on a new album. So I managed to get in touch with Erik Turner, before waking up the sleeping dogs and interest somewhere else … When I called Erik for the first time, his wife picked up the phone, and it surprised me a lot, Mrs. Turner talked to me in German fluently! Talking to Erik, he realized that he just got in touch with the managing director of MTM Music, a devoted, longtime fan of WARRANT! After a few minutes, both parties agreed on releasing the new album [on February 17, 2006]. Remembering all the great songs by WARRANT, especially 'Uncle Tom's Cabin', I'm even more proud of the new cooperation!"

Au début cette news m'a intéressé vu que je suis fan de Warrant. Mais bon, Warrant sans Jani Lane, j'ai un peu de mal à imaginer. Pas que ce soit le plus grand chanteur de tous les temps, mais à l'instar de Bret Michaels dans Poison, c'est un excellent songwriter. Il est le compositeur de tous les hits du groupe.

J'ai donc l'impression qu'un album de Warrant sans lui sera bien fade.

je me souviendrais toujours de la prestation racourcie de Warrant en premiere partie de MAIDEN à La Villette en 92, il pleuvait des bouteilles sur scene et pas seulement remplies d'eau ... dommage parce que sur scene c'était excellent !

Pareil, sans jani Lane ca n'a pas de sens.

Un truc etonnant, cette news fait passer dog eat dog pour un album de grunge... Si vous ne connaissez pas cet album, c'est un fabuleux alb
um de hard US classic mais avec une production et un son ultra heavy.

'fin moi j'adore cet album qui est résolument heavy métal. Je crois d'ailleurs qu'il est produit par Micaeil Wagner. ca veux tout dire.

J'ai un collegue fan de maiden et de trucs plus heavy que warrant qui y etait et qui etait également dégouté par la reaction du public... il trouvait lui aussi le show excellent...

Surtout la reprise de "Balls To The Wall."
Par contre j'ai pas l'impression que le show ait été raccourci..

il ont joué 30 minutes à tout peter si ma memoire est bonne ... je me souviens qu'ils avaient axé leur set sur des morceaux plus heavy, ils avaient joué pas mal de morceaux de Dog Eat Dog d'ailleurs

ouais putain, "inside out" ça le fait grave quand meme....
le morceau qui donne envie de tout casser!

Warrant sans Jani Lane c'est comme Van Halen sans Van Halen. Ou White Lion sans Vito Bratta.
Bref.
J'ai un souvenir très laxatif de Dog eat dog. Dirty rotten filthy stinking rich était à mon sens quelque peu surestimé (à deux ou trois titres près), le meilleur album du groupe pour moi étant Cherry pie.

Jamais aimé ce groupe, contrairement aux autres groupes cités dans le 1er post. Je ne leur trouvais aucun charisme non plus.

"Cherry pie" est en effet un excellent album (leur meilleur pour moi aussi) mais "dog eat dog" comporte vraiment de très bons morceaux notamment celui où il y a une sorte d'opera... Je ne sais plus le titre.

parenthese : oui oui, pour White Lion c'est aussi ce que je pensais, mais j'ai vu le groupe cet été et j'écoute leur nouveau double live et le guitariste est assez excellent il reprend d'ailleurs les merveilleux solos de vitto assez respectueusement ! bref, ca vaut pas le white lion originel, mais ce le fait bien quand meme !!

Et bien contre toute attente, l'album est bon.
Sans surprises, le style s'approche de celui des 2 premiers albums. Pas ici de grunge ni de ultra heavy à la Dog Eat Dog.

Du bon hard US, très inspiré par... Warrant. Par moment,c'est de l'auto-plagiat au niveau des riffs. Mais ça ne pose pas réellement de problèmes. Sans avoir la qualité de Cherry Pie, l'album s'écoute d'une traite et avec plaisir, et le nouveau chanteur assure dans un registre assez similaire à celui de Jani lane, même si ce n'est pas tout à fait le même timbre.

Effort convaincant, à l'instar de celui de Tesla y'a 2 ans...

je ressors ce vieux sujet, j'ai enfin ecouté le disque, ça sert de faire des chroniques pour PW vraiment, , tout ça pour dire que j'ai trouvé ça excellent du début a la fin, du bon hard rock un peu FM qui bouge le cul et prend pas la tete, tres bonne came
